Carter Burwell introduces us to the world of Twilight with a score that works to combine many themes and works very hard to help the film find its voice. While this is a great score for the first film and works effectively, I feel that more can be done with a larger orchestra to add emotional depth to the music.
Burwell has introduced a solid score as the start of the series, but it comes away small scale and not epic. Bella's Lullaby is definitely the highlight of this score. I am still partial to the guitar chords that Burwell mixes in. It is not often effectively done but he manages to sneak them in at just the right moments
to add a connection to the rock and roll vibe of the Twilight moviegoers.
