Twilight New Moon composed by Alexandre Desplat brings a dramatic element to the series that Burwell's first attempt could not. Desplat is no stranger to large orchestrations but he also manages to create simple themes on piano that no doubt add emotionally charged elements to the film.
The main theme is four notes and he continuously weaves these with both strings and piano keys to great effect. I was really impressed by the opening track New Moon that sweeps you into the story. It is one of the better themes that has come along in a while, simple, yet used effectively throughout.
If you are a fan of the series and want to relive moments from the films, highly recommended that you pick up this score. The one thing I miss though is the sad whining of strings and electric guitar that Burwell used in the first score.
