Bram Stoker's Dracula Soundtrack
The opening to this film is extremely powerful both from a story perspective and the raw visuals that accompany it. I think Kilar nailed it. Note that there seems to be a striking "inspiration" from James Bernard's The Devil Rides Out - Invocation to the Devil.

Halloween 4 The Return of Michael Myers Soundtrack
This soundtrack is pretty good. Been listening to it lately to get in the mood for Halloween season! Return of the Shape is awesome...

Avatar Soundtrack
ur actually nuts if u cant feel the heart and depth of that theme. so a little borrowing went on so what?if u can mentally push titanic out of your head and let d music drift through you,u'd get d big picture.

Troy Soundtrack
Composing a movie soundtrack in two weeks is pretty intense. Compare the opening of Troy to the opening of Avatar and this is why I get so fired up about how poor Avatar is.

Session 9 Soundtrack
Great review. I look forward to hearing it!

The Wolfman Soundtrack
I agree this soundtrack is probably an homage to Dracula. I really liked to opening strings work though. Not sure why, but it evokes the wolf imagery in my head so it seems almost perfectly. This soundtrack definitely gets repetitive too.

Revenge Soundtrack
TJ, yes it is a very rare soundtrack. You may find a slightly cheaper one on Amazon over eBay. Also, there may be clips on YouTube you can give it a listen. I think of rare soundtracks like this, if you really love the music of a good band, you would probably pay $50-100 for tickets to go see them in concert. With a rare soundtrack, you will get replay value out of it so sometimes it is worth it. Just be sure to buy from a reputable seller with a solid track record and feedback rating. Good luck! Also, you may want to contact Intrada or Film Score Monthly and recommend they dig up the Revenge tapes and re-release it. I think a complete score to this film including the opening and ending titles and licensing the Tres Ases song would be a great release.

Avatar Soundtrack
WOW first time i saw i was like wow same notes as titanic except the last one

Avatar Soundtrack
HAHA! I agree with every word of this review, except I hated the score even more. It was bland as hell and, yes, I heard the Titanic theme in it, too. Every bit of the score was terribly generic and predictable. There was nothing unique or exciting about it whatsoever. It was a HUGE disappointment. With the huge budget of the movie, you'd have thought they would have gotten a decent person to score the music.

Revenge Soundtrack
Hi, this is Michael from Barbados. I agree with much of what was said about this lovely sound track Mireya's death. It sounds so sad and compliments the movie's ending perfectly. When I first watched this movie back in the early nineties Iwas living in England rented it on video . Came accross it by accident in the video shop. When I saw Kevin Costner was one of the stars I rented it since it was around this time that he was one of the most popular movie stars at the time with movies like Robin Hood and Dancing With The Wolves. I was not dissapointed. Revenge turned out to be my favourite movie by Kevin and one of my favourites of all time. It was not the ending I hoped for, so sad but again the piano sound track at the end was the icing on the cake so to speak which infact made the ending that much sadder. See you guys........ I cannot find this CD for less than $90 online. Silva Screen no longer sells it on their site. Too bad, I love the music and movie but cant justify spending that much money for it.

Avatar Soundtrack
Avatar uses Titanic notes- THANK THE LORDY Someone has finally noticed that too! It drives me nuts every time I hear it because it totally takes me out of the picture. It starts off all Titanic and then steers off at the last few notes!

Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan Soundtrack
Khan had a much lower budget and I think Horner did a brilliant job of delivering something that made it larger and more blockbuster than it should have been.

Avatar Soundtrack
i heard only titanic on the avatar score! thanks for posting this accurate review... everyone i saw the movie with must've been deaf, because they did not hear the similarities!!!!

The FlyBoys Soundtrack
There were variations of some of the themes in this movie such as in the arcade scene but these were not included.

Avatar Soundtrack
I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I personally thought this was a beautiful soundtrack. Most of all, it did what it was meant to, ie. complement the movie perfectly and enhance the cinematic experience. True, some of the thematic elements were borrowed from other soundtracks, but it wasn't a problem for me. Also, what is wrong with Cirque Du Soleil soundtracks?

Avatar Soundtrack
Greg, Horner is a master of the art. He knows how to command a large orchestra, integrate synth with the composition, and put a piece of music to celluloid to create an emotion. The quality of the Avatar soundtrack is great. Clean use of instrumentation, crisp sounds, separate instruments that can clearly be plucked from the sound tapestry. For me, it was more about him having 18 months and basically just ripping off himself and just abusing his trademark four note horn. Give Spiderwick Chronicles a listen. I think that is his best work in years...

The Abyss Soundtrack
I love this soundtrack, i just wish cameron used more this composer, including for avatar, would have been a nice score. Anyway, my main point is this score does not include all the music we can hear during the film and there is quite enough space to put some more...

Star Trek Soundtrack
I love this star Trek soundtrack. It fitted so well the movie than i thought it was the original one, or at least a close adaptation when i have seen the movie. The 'Hella Bar Talk ' is for me the sound that makes you realise that it is a Michael Giacchino soundtrack. It reminds me the lost first season soundtrack without feeling like i am listening a copy past. Michael Giacchino kept his style but perfectly integrated it to the spirit of the movie.

John Leyton said Art appreciation is solitary. I mostly agree that we have all different taste so the "this music sucks" or "this is great" do not mean much to me But here, there are some facts - Horner had plenty of time to do it - This soundtrack has several similarities with previous ones I am not able yet to feel when a soundtrack is well produced or not, from a recording point of view, and if you guys can give me tips on how to know that, that would be great. Is Avatar soundtrack well produced for you? Or is it just about the melody used?

Star Trek III The Search for Spock Soundtrack
I still say Star Trek II is better than I. You are supposed to continue themes in sequels. I don't hear anyone getting on Williams for Star Wars.

Star Trek III The Search for Spock Soundtrack
One of the best sequences in the entire film is the return home at the beginning. When Kirk says "You have control" and they are just along for the ride, the music is brilliant. Especially love when the strings speed up for the Excelsior sequence. They are in awe of the new technology and the fast strings make it seem more modern. Then we cut back to the slow sweeping, epic legacy Enterprise docking, and the perfect touch is everyone in space dock stops what they are doing to watch to embattled ship return home.

Avatar Soundtrack
I agree with your comment about art appreciation being solitary. I feel the same way about the Drag Me To Hell soundtrack!
